Some people just know how to shine.
They’re the ones who go the extra mile. Who will add an extra project to their already large workload without a second thought. And who somehow manage to juggle everything just perfectly, and often with a smile.
Phillip Buatti is such a person.
Good grades.
Student council.
Basketball, tennis, football, school plays, piano,
trombone and guitar are a few of the things the Regina seventh-grader can list on his resume.
Not to mention that he’s an altar server at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a role model to three younger brothers, a helper to his parents by walking the dog, Leo, and taking out the garbage and recycling.
For all his hard work and good character, Regina nominated Phillip, 12, for a Mayor’s Citizenship Award.
Last March, then-Mayor Ernie Lehman presented him with the award.
“I was just like, ‘Wow,’” Phillip said of receiving the award.
Though he tackles a great deal, Phillip, an aspiring actor, sees it as just part of being a good student and a good person, and trying to get ahead.
“I hope to have a good future,” he said. “I try not to dwell on the past. I am always looking ahead.”
